Save the date! The 12 annual Hispanic Heritage Festival and Health Fair will be Sunday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Vance Harmon Park, 699 Country Club Road. This event is free. Solivita-Poinciana Volunteers United presents free English Second Language classes every Tuesday and Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Anthony DePalma Community Center, 395 Marigold Ave. Classes will begin Sept. 11.

For those interested in participating in the program, this years’ class will be focusing on beginner to intermediate levels. There is no fee, however, students must purchase a textbook, which costs $30. The last night to register will be today. Register at the Anthony DePalma Community Center.

The group is also looking for volunteer teachers and teacher assistants who are bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole. Teaching background is preferred but those without experience are encouraged to apply. For more information email PoincianaEnglish@gmail.com.

On Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. join Dr. Imtian Abmied, credentialed allergist at Poinciana Medical Center, for an allergy lecture. Dr. Ahmied will discuss allergies, mysteries and solutions. In addition, he will speak about warning signs, symptoms and treatment options, followed by a question and answer period. There is still time to register! Little League of Poinciana is currently holding registrations. Youth ages 4 to 13 may register at Denny’s, 840 Cypress Parkway, every Saturday in August or online at www.littleleagueofpoinciana.com. The fee is $45 for the season and includes a T-shirt and hat. Poinciana Youth Sports Association presents Junior Magic Basketball League, with draft day being held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Deerwood Park, 4051 Laurel Ave. Register Tuesdays or Thursdays, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vance Harmon Park, 625 Country Club Road. Poinciana Community Park (Village 7) Pet Fest 2018 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Presented by the Association of Poinciana Villages, this event allows for pets to socialize, play and party. Bring your pet, meet pet vendors and celebrate with other pet enthusiasts. Poinciana Community Park is located at 5109 Allegheny Road.

The next APV Movies Under the Stars night will be on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. This family-friendly event will be held at the Vance Harmon Amphitheater, 20 Country Club Road. Admission is free.
