Here are some Valentine's Day events in the Poinciana area

Happy Valentine’s Day! Here are a couple of events on Thursday and one later this month to get your heart aflutter.

The Poinciana Branch Library, 101 N. Doverplum Ave., will host Minute to Win it! Valentine’s Day Edition today, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Are you up for the challenge? Together, with your family, challenge other families to fun games that are Valentine’s Day themed. Plan on having lots of laughs and making some great memories.

Check out Caritas Comics, 3813 Pleasant Hill Road, today, from 5 to 9 p.m. The store is hosting a Valentine’s Day DIY Pop! Paint Party. Come in anytime between 5 and 9 p.m. and create your very own Funko Pop! The cost is $19.99. If you dine at Beef O’Brady’s at the Village Shops at Bellalago, bring your receipt and save $5.

Love is in the Air... And you're invited! Join the Association of Poinciana Villages LifeStyles Department for their annual Adult Sweethearts Dance on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Anthony DePalma Center, 395 Marigold Ave. Laugh, dance and mingle with your neighbors and friends. High school seniors who live in Poinciana or near-by communities (ZIP codes 34758, 34759 or 34746) have a special opportunity to apply for a scholarship for post high school education.

The Poinciana Area Council (PAC) offers four $500 scholarships to students. Even if you currently are out-of-zoned to attend another school, either in Osceola or Polk counties, as long as you live in those ZIP codes, meet other criteria and submit a 500 word essay. The essay topic is “Explain your educational goals and future career path. How will achieving your goals impact your community?” The PAC Scholarship was created to reward and benefit students who live in Poinciana. PAC celebrates and encourages the young people in the community while encouraging them to achieve their educational goals.

The Poinciana Area Council operates under the umbrella of the Kissimmee/Osceola Chamber of Commerce. PAC was established in 1998 and represents the Poinciana area focusing on the issues that matter most to business and the community. PAC describes itself as the provider of a common voice in promoting the economic well being of businesses and exists to advance the civic, professional, educational and environmental welfare of the Poinciana area.
