The fire/rescue units that will be working out of Osceola County fire stations still under construction are already working to serve residents, the county said this week.
The department has already placed the new stations’ rescue units in service -- Rescue 75 and Rescue 83 -- months ahead of their anticipated openings.
Ground has broken on Station 75 on Funie Steed road just southwest of U.S. Highway 192 and should be completed in 2025. Construction at Station 83 on Marigold Avenue is anticipated to begin soon. Rescue 75 is currently at Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS Station 71 on West U.S. Highway 192, and Rescue 83 is currently at the newly opened Station 85 on Cypress Parkway.
“The mission of our department centers around improving the quality and capacity of services we provide to our community,” Fire Chief Larry Collier said. “As we continue to add new links in our chain of services across the community, we are constantly looking for ways to efficiently add these capacities. In this case, being able to place these units into service ahead of their respective stations opening increases the department’s ability to provide effective and efficient responses.”
“We are constantly focused on meeting the needs of the community we serve,” Chief Collier added. “As the population on our County’s west side continues to grow, bringing these new resources into service is a critical component toward ensuring our quality of services now and in the future.”
