Hello spring! If this year’s spring break is going to be a “staycation,” check out both Poinciana Pools (Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Ave. and Mary Jane Arrington Aquatic Center, 625 Country Club Drive), for poolside games and spring break fun.
Poolside games happens March 18-22 and March 25-29. Daily pass prices are $5 for residents, $7 non-residents. For the entire year, a family of five (must reside at the same address) the cost of a pass is $60.
Lunch & Learn: Physician Lecture Series will be Monday, March 11, at noon at the Poinciana Branch Library. Dr. Cesare Peraglie, credentialed colon, rectal and bariatric surgeon at Poinciana Medical Center, will conduct a lecture on colorectal cancer awareness. Dr. Peraglie will discuss symptoms, treatment and surgical options. A question and answer segment will follow. A complimentary lunch will be provided. To register, call 888-253-8117.
The program Senior Housing Opportunities will be presented on Tuesday, March 12, at 10 a.m. at the Poinciana Branch Library.
Find a place to live and maintain your independence through Osceola Council on Aging’s Heart and HomeSharing program. HomeSharing offers a one-on-one matching service between people who have an extra room in their home with those who are looking for housing.
Program Coordinator Elizabeth Gueist will be on site to provide information regarding this housing arrangement.
Learn the Basics of Orchid Growing on Tuesday, March 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. Orchids have a reputation for being fancy, difficult plants, but in actuality are no more difficult than your average houseplant.
Extension Services Residential Horticulturist Eva Pablon will explain the basics of growing beautiful orchids at home.
Library programs are free and open to the public. The Poinciana Branch Library is located at 101 N. Doverplum Ave.
Discovery Intermediate School, 5350 San Miguel Road, will hold a Drills and Skills Basketball camp March 19 and 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Head Instructor Ramses Kelly will lead the camp, which will emphasize the fundamentals of the game- dribbling, shooting, passing, one-on-one moves, point guard skills, in-game situations and defense drills.

Family bingo is back.
The Spring Family BINGO night will be on Saturday, March 23, at 6 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Center. Children ages 5 to 12 (must be accompanied by an adult) can enjoy a night of family fun.
