Dump trunk driver hits overpass

A Kissimmee dump truck driver was ticketed for careless driving on Monday after the bed of the vehicle slammed into an overpass.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Yunior Diaz Gil, 36, of Kissimmee, was pulling out of a construction site on Florida’s Turnpike, mile-marker 251, at about 11:45 a.m.

Driving northbound on the turnpike, Gil failed to lower the bed on the dump truck, troopers said.

As he traveled under State Road 417, the dump truck bed struck the overpass.

Florida Department of Transportation inspectors will assess the damage of the overpass.

Gil, who suffered minor injuries, was ticketed by troopers for careless driving.
