Couple arrested for trying to rob ChampionsGate bank last month

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested a couple wanted for attempting to rob a bank in ChampionsGate last month.  

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, on Sept. 25, at about 8:28 a.m., deputies responded to the PNC Bank, 8321 Championsgate Blvd., after receiving an armed robbery call. Witnesses said two males armed with firearms and wearing masks attempted to rob the bank, but fled when the alarm went off. During the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspects as John Armstrong, 30, and 43-year-old Tanya Legg.

On Oct. 7, Osceola County robbery detectives along with the FBI and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Armstrong and Legg in Lee County. Detectives were able to locate items of evidence that linked both suspects to the case, the report stated. Both suspects refused to cooperate with detectives and were booked into the Charlotte County Jail on a federal bank robbery charges with zero bond.
