Community presentation on sales tax increase will be April 29 in Poinciana

An Osceola County special election asking voters to approve a 1 percent sales tax increase will be held May 21. 

This is a transportation sales tax. A meeting and community presentation presented by Osceola County Administration will be in the Poinciana area Monday, April 29, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Valencia College - Poinciana Campus. Valencia College Poinciana is located 3255 Pleasant Hill Road.


The civic group PRFSC will present a Poinciana Transportation Meeting on Thursday, April 11, at  7 p.m., at the Poinciana Branch Library, 101 N. Doverplum Ave. The uest speaker will be Osceola County Commissioner and Central Florida Expressway Authority Chair Fred Hawkins.


The hunt is on! There are a couple of Easter egg hunts happening in our area on Saturday.

Living Water Fellowship, 4101 Pleasant Hill Road, will hold an Easter Egg hunt on Saturday. The age group eligible to participate is up to fifth grade.

A total of 16,000 eggs will fill the field. With 100 eggs being “prize” eggs. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 10:30 a.m. The egg hunt will begin after the doors close.

The Association of Poinciana Villages’ (APV) Annual Spring Fest and Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vance Harmon Park Amphitheater, 625 Country Club Drive.

This fun-filled day at the park features a helicopter egg drop at noon. The “hunt” starts after the helicopter’s last egg drop. There will be three hunting fields, each separated by age group.

The Spring Fest includes bounce houses, games and prizes, food trucks, vendors and a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny.

Here’s your chance to be a hero. A community blood drive will be Wednesday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Poinciana Branch Library, 101 N. Doverplum Ave.
