Christmas parade, holiday celebration set for Saturday

The Association of Poinciana Villages’ 27th Annual Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration will be Saturday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  The parade route begins at the corner of Cypress Branch and Cypress Parkway going east, right on Doverplum and right on Country Club Road. The parade ends at the Mary Jane Arrington Gym and Aquatic Center.

All Christmas Parade and Holiday Celebration parking will be off-site, in two locations, with bus transportation to all the festivities. Parking is available at the Poinciana Community Center, 445 Marigold Ave., and the grassy lot behind Walgreens, 395 Cypress Parkway.

Bus transport begins at 10 a.m. with buses running every 15 minutes and ending at 3 p.m. Bus transportation is courtesy of Pastor Terry Howell, Living Water Fellowship.

The Holiday Celebration follows the parade with a holly jolly line-up. Carol Saragusa will direct the day’s festivities at the Vance Harmon Amphitheatre. Craig Singleton and the Big City Band will preform hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s along with some holiday tunes.

The Battle of the Bands features five marching bands competing for cash prizes.

Five food trucks will be available at the Holiday Celebration. Kids can enjoy bounce houses, balloon artists, face painting and pictures with Santa!

Get your dancing shoes on after the parade!  On Saturday at 7 p.m., enjoy a Parranda at the Anthony DePalma Center, 395 Marigold Ave. Parrandeno Navideno y Bailabie 2019 will be presented by Promciones Cultura y Herencia Hispania (the same group that organizes the October Hispanic Heritage Fair at Harmon Park). This holiday party features music by Rafy Santana, La Orqustta Del Pueblo and more.

 The Poinciana Branch Library, 101 N. Doverplum Ave., will host Santa’s Christmas Workshop. Parents, come join your little elves in a special storytime with Santa and share a cookie with him too. Stay after the cookies and story to create a keepsake ornament. Santa’s Christmas Workshop will be on Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

 The Association of Poinciana Villages’ Winter Break Family Bingo Night will be Tuesday, Dec., 17, at 6 p.m., at the APV Gymnasium, 445 Marigold Ave. This free event features great prizes donated by the Poinciana Exercise Club. To register, contact Liz Wargo at 863-427-0900, Ext. 301.
