Bus driver with students on board hits car, cited for careless driving

A school bus ran into the back of a Volkswagon on U.S. Highway 192 Monday morning in Osceola County.

An Osceola County School District bus driver was ticketed for careless driving on Monday after he slammed into the back of a car.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, James Brayman, 63, of Kissimmee, was driving the school bus westbound on U.S. Highway 192 at the intersection of Del Lago Boulevard with 11 students on board at about 6:10 a.m.

A 2008 Volkswagon driven by Simeon Mariano, 37, of Kissimmee, was stopped for traffic at the intersection, when Brayman failed to stop in time, troopers said. The bus then hit the Volkswagon in the back. A passenger from the bus and one from the car were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Neither Brayman nor Mariano were injured.

Brayman was cited for careless driving, while Mariano was ticketed for driving without a license.
