Murder suspect captured during burglary

The suspect wanted for murdering his estranged wife was captured in Orange County on Sunday while committing a burglary, authorities said.

At 3 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Meadow Woods Middle School in reference to a burglary in progress. Deputies made contact with a Hispanic male. Once the suspect was detained it was learned he had a warrant and he was the homicide suspect from Osceola County and was identified as 45-year-old Alex Olivencia-Alavarado. A 9mm handgun was found in his possession.

Osceola County detectives were contacted and they responded and took custody of the suspect for an interview, where he cooperated with detectives, according to an Osceola County Sheriff’s Office report.

On March 5, law enforcement responded to 217 Manoel Silva St. in Kissimmee after receiving a call about a possible shooting.

Authorities discovered a deceased female who had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

The investigation determined the victim’s estranged husband, Alex Olivencia-Alvarado was responsible for her death and a warrant was obtained for his arrest for first-degree murder.

Olivencia-Alvarado’s black 2009 Toyota Scion was found the following day by a retention pond on J. Lawson Boulevard near Boggy Creek Road in Orange County.

Olivencia-Alvarado was booked into the Osceola County Jail on the homicide warrant, and a warrant will be obtained for the armed burglary charges in Orange County. The school was searched and secured.
