Editor’s Note: SeaWorld Orlando provided the Osceola News-Gazette with free theme park admission to experience this event.
There’s a lot of fun to be had and cheer to be spread this season at SeaWorld Orlando. Guests visiting SeaWorld for its 2018 Christmas Celebration can experience fabulous seasonal shows, holiday treats, character meet-and-greets, special decorations and more.
A big thanks to @SeaWorld for having me at last night’s #ChristmasCelebration 🎄✨ What a great way to kick off December! 🎉Video coming this week, in part of my 7 days of Holidays #vlogmas series. pic.twitter.com/5QnITUxz3p— Jennifer DiDomenico (@jenndido) December 2, 2018
Get right into the spirit with SeaWorld’s Winter Wonderland on Ice. Christmas truly comes to life on stage during this ice show, with several numbers by talented ice skaters. Immerse yourself in the holidays with solo, duet and group performances, all in front of a backdrop of a sea of sparkling trees. Try to get there early — while the theater offers plenty of seating, it fills up quickly. Plus, you won’t want to miss an opening violin performance of classic Christmas songs. Note: This show is available Dec. 7-9, and Dec. 14-31.
A returning classic, Clyde & Seamore’s Countdown to Christmas. This comedy show kicks off the countdown to Christmas with tasks that need to be done before the big day, including shopping at the mall and decorating for Santa Claus. Join sea lions Clyde and Seamore, their otter friends, a jolly walrus and even a couple of humans. Note: This show is offered daily through Dec. 31.
You can’t visit SeaWorld without catching a Shamu show. Shamu’s Christmas Miracles celebrates the holidays with dazzling lights, glowing candles, Christmas carols and the orcas of the stadium. Note: This show is available Dec. 7-9, and Dec. 14-31.
And, new for 2018, guests can dine with Santa at Shamu Stadium. Recommended for families of all ages, this buffet-style dinner features a menu of traditional holiday favorites and desserts, and invites guests to sit down and make memories together. This $40 package also includes reserved seating for Winter Wonderland on Ice, and can be purchased online in advance. Note: This experience is available Dec. 7-9, and Dec. 14-31.
If you’re not up for a full dining experience, don’t fret — there’s plenty of opportunity to grab a bite to eat during the Christmas Celebration.
The Christmas Market features booths with a variety of stuffed donuts, short-rib mac and cheese, and French fries with your choice of toppings. Seasonal craft brews can be purchased by guests of age, and speciality hot chocolate can be purchased by guests of any age. The Christmas Market offers plenty of first come, first served seating, as well as a view of the Sea of Trees and the sounds of the live music on the lakeside Gazebo Stage.
There are two different ways to enjoy the Christmas Market: Tasting & Brew Sampler Packages GOLD and RED.
The $40 GOLD package offers guests any combination of 10 food and brew samples, while the $25 RED package offers guests any combination of five food and brew samples.
Tasting and Brew Sampler Lanyards may be purchased at the Welcome Center, and at all festival locations throughout the park.
Quick-service dining locations also remain open during Christmas at SeaWorld.
While Santa Claus might be at the top of your list of people to meet, there are a lot of other fun characters to meet throughout the park.
Be sure to check out Rudolph’s ChristmasTown. This walk-through attraction invites guests right into the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, with life-size (and interactive) story book vignettes.
You might even bump into Rudolph, himself! Rudolph, Clarice, Bumble and Yukon Cornelius are available for meet-and-greet and photo opportunities throughout the celebration.
It wouldn’t truly be Christmastime at SeaWorld without a Sea of Trees. Guests can stroll through a wintery — and watery — wonderland of Christmas trees, all synched to classic Christmas music. More than 100 trees can be seen throughout the park, including a giant centerpiece that stands 70 feet above the water.
And just when you thought SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration couldn’t get any more magical — there are more than 3 million holiday lights spread throughout the theme park.
Guests are invited to celebrate Christmas at their own leisure, as the celebrations are included in general theme park admission. (No separate ticket is required for this event.)
