There is something magical about September at library

The Veterans Memorial Library in St. Cloud will be hosting a variety of events related to the Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling.

The month of September is considered the “Month of Magic” at the Veterans Memorial Library in St. Cloud. Starting today, Sept. 12, the library will be hosting a variety of events related to the Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling.

The event order is as followed:

• Professor Pugh and the Potterheads, Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. Class is in session! Tison Pugh, Professor of English at the University of Central Florida, showcases how he uses the Harry Potter book series to engage students, inspire reading, and transform the classroom setting.

• Teen Unwind: Wand Pencil, Friday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. Cast an anti-theft charm on these so they don’t get “borrowed.”

• Yule Ball, Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. Dress to impress for an enchanting evening filled with music, dancing, and treats fit for a wizard. Ages 13 and up. Inspired by the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Sponsored by the St. Cloud Friends of the Library. This is an after-hours event. The library will close at its regularly scheduled time and reopen for the special event.

• Potterverse Would You Rather, Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. Would you rather face a dragon or face a blast ended skrewt? This thought-provoking discussion will leave you with tough decisions. Inspired by the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.

• Wings of Wizardry, Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. The Audubon Center for Birds of Prey presents an up-close encounter with the most enchanting, undercelebrated heroes of the Potter universe. Sponsored by the St. Cloud Friends of the Library. Inspired by the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.

• Curious Creations: BookArt, Saturday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. Turn an old book into a sculpture simply by folding down the corners of the pages! Learn how to make folded book art and create your own masterpiece. Instructions and materials provided.

• Are You Smarter Than A Potterhead? Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m.

So, you think you know everything about Harry Potter? Test your expertise against a true Harry Potter Enthusiast.

• Bingo for Books - Harry Potter Edition, Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. Find out how lucky you are when you win Bingo and great books!

• Potions and Puzzles Escape Room, Thursday, Sept. 26, at  5 p.m. Brew the perfect potion in time to escape the dungeon classroom at The School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. Groups: Four to six people.

• Sorcerers at Sunset, Saturday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. Experience a magical evening inspired by the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Test your potions knowledge in our escape room, make your own golden snitch and pet owl, get sorted into your House, show your allegiance with temporary tattoos, embark on a scavenger hunt, learn how to properly care for magical creatures with Amazing Animals, trek through the Forbidden Forest, and try not to land in detention! A night of adventure culminating in costume contests where your best robes may earn you a prize. Sponsored by the St. Cloud Friends of the Library. This is an after-hours event. The library will close at its regularly scheduled time and reopen for the special event.

Throughout the entire month, the building will be highly decorated inside to celebrate the book series. Children and adults are more than welcome to enjoy every night and enjoy everything the library has to offer.
