It’s time to break out your best green and get ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day St. Cloud style.
St. Cloud is hosting a brand new downtown street celebration “Paint the Cloud Green,” to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
The event will be today from 6 p.m. to midnight. The city will be closing down a section of Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown St. Cloud between 10th and 12th streets.
The city of St. Cloud wants to “give residents a fun and safe opportunity to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in their hometown,” said St. Cloud Parks and Recreation Special Events Manager Erin Jenks.
St. Cloud Police will be on hand to ensure the safety of the public.
There will be a stage in the street with live music from local musicians, great food and fun giveaways available. Local businesses and restaurants will be running special holiday deals. The Garage Bar and Stone Creek Tavern on Pennsylvania Avenue will be open and celebrating the holiday. The Dog House and Brews and Blues have also worked closely with the city in the planning of this event.
A goal for “Paint the Cloud Green” is to bring both residents and newcomers to the rapidly growing downtown area. For those who have not recently toured downtown St. Cloud will be surprised to see all that has changed and expanded over the years.
“We would love for our event participants to take a stroll downtown and stop into as many of our downtown businesses and continue to support our community,” said Jenks.
The more festively green attendees are dressed, the better. “Paint the Cloud Green” will have T-shirts and light up bling to giveaway to commemorate the holiday.
“Paint the Cloud Green” will be sure to be a fun experience for the whole family.
“We have a great team at parks and recreation, and we all jump in and work together harmoniously to continue to serve our community, so I am very appreciative of our entire team,” said Jenks.
