KVLS Farmers’ Market and Marketplace to open

The Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show and Fair has announced the opening of the KVLS Farmers Market and Marketplace with an opening date of June 29.

The marketplace will be held one Saturday each month in the KVLS Pavilion located at 1911 Kissimmee Valley Lane, Kissimmee, which is located in Osceola Heritage Park.

“We are excited with the response we have received from both vendors and the public,” says Larry Berry, General Manager of KVLS and the Osceola Count Fair.  “The community doesn’t have anything like this and we have had a great response from the public about adding this as a community event.”

The KVLS Farmers’ Market and Marketplace will be held indoors, which adds appeal to this type of community event where inclement weather and the intense Florida sunshine can make it a challenge.  The marketplace is open to locally grown fruits, vegetables, and other produce as well as items which are non-manufactured and non-mass-produced.

“We wanted to bring more of a hometown feel to the marketplace and not have things you could get at retail establishments.  We have had inquires from honey providers, handcrafted items such as birdhouses and quilts, and some bulk items such as pet food products.  We realize getting the word out and started is the hard part, but the initial support has been excellent. From what we can tell, the event will only grow.”

Dates for the KVLS Farmers Market and Marketplace have been set for June 29 (opening day), July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 21, and Oct. 12.  Hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  “

We’ll start out small and see where it goes,” said Larry.  “Our research says there’s a need and we have the facility which made sense to try and get this going.”

Anyone interested in signing up as a vendor or would like additional information can contact KVLS at the Osceola County Fair web site.
