Cultural immersion in your backyard

Are you and your child interested in learning about different cultures?

Do you wish your family could travel, but there isn’t the opportunity for it now? Open your home to an exchange student and immerse your family in a global citizenship experience? Florida 4-H is looking for families to host Japanese exchange youth delegates this summer for three-and-a-half weeks from July 23 to Aug. 17, 2019.

One Japanese youth will be matched based on host sibling’s gender, age and interests. Visiting youth will learn about American culture, language, daily life, and will be immersed in a complete cultural immersion experience.

There are a few requirements to participate in the program. Host families must have youth (same gender) in the home that is within three years of age of the exchange youth that will be staying with them. Youth will be 12 to 16 years old with the average age 13 years.

Applications must have a home interview, two references and a background check. Families do not need to currently be involved in 4-H to participate.
