Lennys Grill and Subs, a Memphis-based restaurant chain specializing in Philly cheesesteaks and other grilled and deli subs, will be coming to Kissimmee soon.

Bob Ritter, vice president franchise and market development for Lennys, said right now the company is in the process of zeroing in on a location for the first Orlando area restaurant. The closest restaurant, and one of a few in the state is in Bartow.

“We have had a lot of success in Bartow,” Ritter said, and will follow that with a Kissimmee area restaurant in the near future. The company has a specific interest in the area and hopes to open several locations in the area.

The restaurant chain has more than 100 locations nationwide, many of them in Tennessee.

Ritter said even though the sub sandwich market is a crowded one with Subway, WaWa and Firehouse Subs all in Central Florida, among many others, Lenny’s is set apart by its sliced to order meats, fresh breads baked daily and its grill.

Philly cheesesteaks, available in several varieties are one of the restaurant’s signature items. Other grilled subs include meatball, hot Italian and French Dip. Ritter said grilled items account for 35 percent of the restaurant’s business.

Deli subs include Italian, classic, roast beef, chicken club, deluxe club, super vegie, tuna salad and mile high turkey.

Sandwiches are available in several sizes.

Once restaurant officials decide on a location or locations, the first Lennys will open about six months later.

The first Lennys Subs opened in 1998 in a suburb of Memphis.
