It was a great year for the Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show & Fair.

With great weather throughout the ten-day run of the fair, more than 95,000 visitors stopped by for corn dogs and turkey legs, to watch the racing pigs and a whole lot more.

It also was a record breaking opening weekend for the big county event.

“It is well know that our second weekend, in combination with the Silver Spurs Rodeo, is our biggest and most crowded, said fair general manager Miranda Muir.

“This year we wanted to encourage families to join us on the first weekend in order to take advantage of smaller crowds, shorter lines and budget friendly, popular entertainment, she said.

In addition to rides and entertainment, the Kissimmee Valley Livestock Show hosts a variety of contests and livestock shows. This year’s Market Animal Auctions raised a record breaking $534,125 for area youth exhibitors and an additional $75,000 in premiums and awards were given for excellence in a variety of areas including photography, baking, demonstrations, and more. The board of directors also hopes to award an additional $10,000 in educational scholarships in the coming months to qualified participants.

If you missed this year’s fair or can’t wait until next year, the fair returns in 2019 and will celebrate its 75th anniversary.

“For any event to celebrate 75 years is amazing and something to be proud of,” said Muir. “We cannot wait to celebrate with the entire community and are planning big surprises along the way.”

The fair returns February 8-17, 2019.
