When a patient is fighting breast cancer, or any version of the disease, worrying about the roof over their head is not something that should be a worry at all.

A roofing contractor with a Kissimmee office did what it could for the fight last month.

Jasper Contractors joined forces with one of its materials providers and the National Breast Cancer Foundation during the month of October — Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and donated a portion of every roof installation as part of Installs 4 The Cause.

The company has still tallied up its donations to the National Breast Foundation; it’s at $17,800 and could grow a little more.

According to the NBCF, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. A Jasper release said that while most people understand that breast cancer is a life-threatening disease, the severity does not fully set in until a loved one is diagnosed. The company’s donation to the cause is a way to further educate the public about breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“We have had a great response from our homeowners,” Jasper Social Media Director Stephanie Schultz said, noting that one local woman, who lost her mother-in-law to cancer in 2005, told her husband, “this is the company we are going to go with As soon as I saw (their contractor’s) pink shirt and found out what you guys were doing.

“Another homeowner who’s roof we (installed last week) is a breast cancer survivor of 20 years in January. Her story was powerful, and now she travels nationwide to attend cancer conferences. This campaign has been a truly great experience.”

The movement had its own social media hashtag, #Installs4TheCause.

“Jasper Contractors is excited to work with SPEC for such a great purpose; together we donated $4 per square during October,” said Brian Wedding, Owner and CEO of parent company EX Capital. “We were hoping the weather is cooperative throughout the month allowing a strong contribution to NBCF.”

NBCF Installs 4 The Cause openly states where homeowner dollars will be donated. For additional information about this campaign, visit www.jasperroof.com/installs4thecause.
