Kissimmee Utility Authority linemen joined lineworkers from public power communities across the state at the Florida Cabinet meeting recently where they were recognized for their service to their communities and outstanding performance at two recent lineworker competitions.

The group of public power lineworkers were presented with a resolution by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Adam Putnam which highlighted their achievements at recent state and national lineworker competitions.

“Our linemen are our hometown heroes and we greatly appreciate them representing us in Tallahassee and accepting this recognition on behalf of public power lineworkers across Florida. We could not be more proud of their accomplishments and their commitment to safety and their craft,” said KUA president and general manager Jim Welsh.

In March, more than 130 lineworkers, including lineworkers from KUA, participated in the Florida Municipal Electric Association’s 18th annual Florida Lineman Competition in Kissimmee. KUA linemen placed third statewide and brought home five trophies from the event.

The following month, KUA lineworkers joined fellow Florida public power lineworkers at the American Public Power Association’s 2018 Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo, which took place in Wake Forest, N.C. KUA linemen brought home perfect scores and nine trophies from the event, placing third in the nation.
