Besides doing our daily commitment of providing safe and reliable water services to our 100,000+ customers, we are greatly involved in the community.
Throughout the year we sponsor many events that bring people together and advance our community. We give to non-profits and charity organizations to improve people’s quality of life and foster the health of our community and environment. We have sponsored, volunteered and donated vehicles to the Osceola Council on Aging, the largest social services organization in Osceola County. Every year we are excited to partner with the Boys and Girls Club of Osceola County who help provide a safe place for children to learn and grow.
Science, arts and sports
We love science, sports and the arts too. Every year we sponsor the AWWA’s Model Water Tower Competition where students put to work their engineering and creative skills to make an efficient and aesthetically pleasing water tower. At the Orange/Osceola/Seminole Regional Envirothon we assist organizers with their high school-level natural resources education competition. We recently put in place a partnership with STEM Alliance of Central Florida whose objective is to provide resources and environments where students can excel and enjoy science, technology, engineering, and math. The arts are important too. We sponsor the Osceola Arts whose work enriches our community and sponsor numerous cultural events like Viva Osceola.
We have sports and health covered too. We sponsor the Special Olympics Florida, swim lessons and events organized by the Osceola YMCA and many other sporting events and 5Ks around our county.
Education Endowment Fund
With the recent retirement of our Executive Director, Toho Water Authority in partnership with the Education Foundation established the Brian L. Wheeler Education Endowment Fund in his honor for his 33 years of stewardship to our water resources and community. The purpose of the endowment is to award annually for generations to come a scholarship to a student interested in pursuing a career in the water industry.
We are stewards of our water resources and strive to be stewards in the community where we also work and live. We know that by working together, we are part of the fabric that helps weave together more success stories for our community.
