Kissimmee Civic Center is site of state tournaments for third time

Eight weightlifters from Osceola County will be among the competitors Friday and Saturday at the state weightlifting tournaments at the Kissimmee Civic Center.

The Class 2A meet gets under way at 10:30 a.m. Friday when lifters from St. Cloud, Harmony and Osceola will compete.

Poinciana’s Alex Serrano will compete at 154 pounds at the Class A state meet that starts Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Admission to the state tournaments is $9 per day, plus $5 parking.

But, Liberty has found its man – former Alabama high school coach Dan Adams.

Brittney Gilbert calls softball “a strong passion of mine.”

She will pursue her passion after she graduates from St. Cloud High next month at Edward Waters University after signing a grant with the Jacksonville program recently at the high school gym.

Everyone who knew anything about weightlifting in Osceola County the past two years knew that St. Cloud’s 129-pound dynamo, Sarah Boroski, was pound-for-pound the best female weightlifter in the area.
