The Osceola County Meal Packing Event on May 4 and 5 will combine the efforts of 15 local charity organizations to add 250,000 meals to food pantries throughout the county.

It will take more than one organization to help combat homelessness and hunger in Osceola County.

The Osceola County Meal Packing Event on May 4 and 5 will combine the efforts of 15 local charity organizations to add 250,000 meals to food pantries throughout the county. Meals of rice, lentils, dried vegetables and sea salt are packaged by an assembly line of volunteers working in one-hour shifts in locations at St. Cloud, Kissimmee and Celebration.

When the students in George Coffey’s landscaping class at Osceola High School learned that their teacher’s wife was seriously ill, there was one thing they knew they could do to help - honor their teacher and his wife through the very lessons he had taught them.

Shannon Franklin was born May 6, 1986 to a “young” mother, possibly named Angela Beth, at Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee.

The adoption was quick; Franklin’s parents were notified of her birth the morning of by the obstetrician, a family friend.
