March 23 and 24 marks the 20th Annual Battle at Narcoossee Mill War Between The States battle enactment.  Everyone is invited out to enjoy the newly expanded grandstand viewing of the battle, shop the wares of period merchants known as “sutlers”, visit authentic military camps and hear live performances of period music as well as many other activities as they step back in time to 1864.

It’s been 500 years since Juan Ponce de Leon arrived on the east coast of what is now Florida.

That anniversary is not going unnoticed in many locations around the state this year – including St. Cloud where there will be special celebrations and displays Friday and Saturday.

More than 100 of the area’s top cyclists descended on St. Cloud recently, and local triathlete Ken Junkins is sure the event he put on will grow next year after being a hit this year.

The St. Cloud City Council adopted a resolution during a regular meeting Feb. 14 at City Hall. The resolution authorizes a citywide garage sale for April 12, 13 and 14 with a no-fee permit for residents and business owners. This means any person within city limits may have a garage sale on their property on any of the three designated days without possessing a permit – a citywide permit has been approved by City Council.

Two of St. Cloud’s oldest churches have new ministers as the  year begins.
Robert Longbottom, 38, began his ministry as rector of St. Luke-St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Feb. 3 following seven years as rector of St. John’s Church in Ogdensburg, N.Y.

After a May, 2012, fire destroyed the interior of the New York Avenue business, Ella, and her owner – if you want to call Lori Deleon that – are back in business at Ella’s What Not Shop.
