Harmony and Celebration have a common goal Friday when they meet at 7 p.m. at Storm field: snap a losing streak, and earn a 7A-6 district win.

Harmony slipped to 1-4 after falling to Bishop Moore, 42-7, at Longhorn field last week. The Longhorns, who have dropped four straight, played without quarterback Sterling Hicks, who sat out with a concussion.

Sophomore Jeremiah Murray filled in for Hicks, and played well, Harmony Coach Jerrad Butler said.

“He made some good reads, he picked up the slack,” Butler said. “I was proud of our effort.”

Celebration, 0-5, lost at Cocoa Beach, 52-0 last week.

Harmony jumped on top last week, 7-0, after Riley Nicholson’s interception on the game’s first play. That set up Michael Santiago’s 7-yard run for a score.

“Riley made a real good play there, and Michael always runs hard. Forrest Osborne ran real well for us, and the offensive line blocked well. The score was deceiving. We forced three fumbles but couldn’t get on them.”

Bishop Moore bounced right back on long kickoff return by Tyler Floyd and scored on its next possession.

“They’re very good team with a lot of seniors,” Butler said. “Our kids have a great attitude, though. The beauty of football is that after it’s over, you get on with next week, and this week it’s all about Celebration and having a chance to win in the district. We have all of our district games ahead, so hopefully we can string together a couple of wins and have a better second half of the season.”

Butler said the team suffered no serious injuries against Bishop Moore.

The Storm, Butler said, have struggled, but they can be dangerous with a spread offense.

“They’re trying to make plays in the passing game and get you all spread out, then they’re trying to run,” Butler said.

Celebration Coach Ben Aarestad said after the team’s initial drive at Cocoa Beach, it was inconsistent. It is a common theme for a team that is inexperienced.

“The kids are still trying, so hopefully we can get better and get them ready for next year,” he said.
