The following are events held at the Buenaventura Lakes Branch Library, 405 Buenaventura Blvd., Kissimmee, 407-742-8888:
Children’s events
Story times on Mondays with Miss Dagmar
10 a.m., Toddler Tales: Walkers from 18 to 36 months old are invited to dance, sing, do finger-plays and listen to great stories. Story times encourage emerging language skills.
11 a.m., Preschool Rockin’ Readers: Preschoolers and their grownups are invited to theme-based story times geared to the interests and developmental stages of 3-5-year-olds. Sing songs, watch flannel board stories, practice rhymes and learn about books. This 30-minute interactive program supports early literacy skills.
Wednesday, Sept, 14, at 2:30 p.m., Kidz Kaboom; Imaginations go KABOOM in this after-school program for first- to fifth-graders. Investigation, exploration and creativity skills are the only things needed to join in this fun program series. A different theme is featured each month for cool activities, stories, games, crafts and more.
Today at 6:30 p.m., Jammy Jamboree: Come in your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal to the library for a fun story time and craft activity.
Adult event
Today at 4:30 p.m. is Citrus Care – presented by Osceola County Extension Services
Horticulturist Jennifer Pelham will lead a seminar that teaches attendees how to care for their backyard citrus trees. Topics include variety selection, maintenance and pest management.

Friday at 10 a.m., Using the Internet: New to the Web? Learn browser basics like how to type web addresses and bookmark your favorites. Explore the Internet with search engines and discover which web-based email is best for you. Level 2
Friday at 2 p.m., Buying on Amazon: The Basics: From furniture to electronics, books to clothing, discover how to shop online through the largest online retailer in the United States: Amazon.com. Learn how to create an account, search for items and purchase them while never setting foot inside a store. An email address is required. Level 2.
Tuesday at 10 a.m., Book Club: “The Scent of Rain and Lightning” by Nancy Pickard
The man convicted of murdering Jody’s father, Billy Crosby, is being released from prison and returning to the small town of Rose, Kan. Crosby has been granted a new trial, thanks in large part to the efforts of his son, Collin, a lawyer who has spent most of his life trying to prove his father’s innocence. As Jody revisits old wounds, startling revelations compel her to uncover the dangerous truth about her family’s tragic past.
Tuesday at 10 a.m., How to Start Your Own Business Seminar: Presented in partnership by the Osceola Library System and the Small Business Development Center at UCF in Kissimmee, this free 90-minute session is designed to help entrepreneurs understand what it takes to start a business. Topics include business plans, legal forms and licensing requirements. Participants are invited to set up one-on-one counseling sessions immediately following the seminar.
