ClayLuciaCLAY - Lucia Perez Clay, August 17, 1926 ~ August 28, 2011.

Lucia lost her battle to Alzheimer’s on August 28, 2011. She was born Aug. 17, 1926 in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of Juan Bautista and Isabel Garcia Perez who had emigrated from Spain. Lucia spoke only Spanish until she started grammar school.  She played a clarinet in band and graduated in 1945 from Thomas Jefferson High School in Tampa, Florida. Lucia attended her 60th Class Reunion in 2005.

While recovering from Tuberculosis surgery, she met Jeff Clay in Orlando, Florida.  They were sent to Marianna, Florida for rehabilitation. After they were released, Jeff followed her back to Tampa where they were married on August 10, 1952.  She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in December of 1952.  They later moved to Pine Castle (Orlando), Florida, eventually settling permanently in Kissimmee, Florida after the first Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses was built in Osceola County.

Lucia was a watchmaker and a housewife for many years. She joined Jeff in the family business, Jeff Clay & Sons Tires, in 1974 and actively participated in it until the mid-1990’s.  She frequently spent time in the ministry, particularly caring for the elderly.  

Lucia was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Jeff Clay, a brother, Johnny Perez and a half-brother, Leoncio Perez as well as a son, Robert Clay and grandson, Heath Clay.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Marcoe (Bill), sons, Johnny Clay (Laurie) and Jeffrey Clay (Kelli) as well as her grandchildren, Jay Marcoe (Danielle), Philip Marcoe (Kayla), Chelsea Bassford (John), Ginny Lasitter (Robert), Shanna Ferrie (Will), Austin Clay and one great-granddaughter, Ahna Lucia Bassford as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and numerous cousins.

A visitation and memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 1525 Mill Slough Road, Kissimmee, Florida on September 2, 2011 at 6:30 pm.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

 

HartsuffGregoryHARTSUFF - Gregory  Hartsuff, 51, of St. Cloud, passed away August 23, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. His loving wife Marjean Hartsuff was by his side through his struggle and passing.

Greg was born May 11, 1960 in New Castle, PA, son of Hiram and Dolly Hartsuff. He served 4 years in the Armed Forces.

He is survived by his daughter Michele, son Ryan and foster-son Staff Sergeant Michael Burgett stationed Ft. Stewart, GA. Also his sisters Brenda Breaker of St. Cloud and Lori Hartsuff-Quilan of Crystal River.

Greg was Director of Maintenance at First United Methodist Church of Kissimmee, where his Memorial Service will be held, Thursday, September 1st at 6:30 p.m. Service will be conducted in Sanctuary by Pastor Bob Wooten.

LyngReginaldLYNG - Reginald W. Jr. Lyng, Lt. Col. USAF retired passed away on Thursday, September 1st surrounded by his immediate family. Born on May 5, 1926 in Osceola County. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served Honorably as an aviation Crew Chief until 1946. Following his military
service during WWII, he received his BS degree from Florida State University and a commission as a 2nd Lt. in USAF in 1951.
In September 1951 following his marriage to his college sweetheart Dora Frances Dewey of Merritt Island, Florida, he served on active duty in the USAF until 1953 with assignments in Texas and Germany. After fulfilling his USAF service, he returned to Florida and taught high school in Osceola, Franklin and Orange Counties until being recalled to active duty as a Captain with the USAF in 1962. In 1963 upon being selected for integration into the regular Air Force, he served on active duty at Squadron, Division and Major Command levels as a Squadron Commander and Communications – Electronics Staff Officer with assignments in the CONUS and overseas in Turkey and Iran. During his Air Force career he received his MS degree in 1972 from the Air Force Institute of Technology in residence at Dayton, Ohio. His military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Medal, the Air Force Meritorious Medal with three devices, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two devices and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. Along with Medals for service with the Army of occupation, the American
campaign Medal and two Victory Medals earned during active
service in WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances and sister Patricia Gillard in 2002, he is survived by his son Reginald William Lyng III (Sherie) of Kissimmee, daughter Valorie Frances Lyng of Austin, Texas, sisters Pearl Lyng Phillips and Delores Boyd, granddaughter Elizabeth Bonnet (Omar) and three step-grandchildren Ryan, Barbara and Rosemary and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services followed by interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Kissimmee, FL on Tuesday, September 6 at 10:00 AM. Conrad and Thompson Funeral Home, 511 Emmett St., Kissimmee in charge of arrangements. 407-847-3188. www.conradandthompson.com

PedalinoJeromePEDALINO - Jerome “Jerry” Pedalino, 66 of Kissimmee, Florida passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 10, 1945 and was the son of late Jerome and Josephine Pedalino. Jerry served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Jerry was an automobile mechanic and hairdresser by trade in his younger years.  He worked at Universal Studios for the past 18 years.

Jerry truly had a heart of gold and was always there to help whoever was in need, never expecting anything in return.  He was truly egoless and anyone who was lucky enough to know him could not help but love him.

Jerry was a huge fan of Abbott and Costello, knowing all their skits. He enjoyed 1950’s music, dancing, and collected cars of the 50’s era.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Rosemarie (Vurro) Pedalino.  Other survivors include his sisters Frances Folise and husband Frank, Joanna Pennachio and husband John, Michael Pedalino and wife Cynthia, brother-in-laws Frank Imbimbo and late wife Millie, Vincent Vurro and wife Marysia, Robert Vurro and wife Andrea, sister- in laws AnnMarie Pedalino and late husband Robert, Lorraine Aguirri, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  

The family wants to express special thanks to Cornerstone Hospice for all they did for us at this time.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice at 8009 S. Orange Avenue Orlando, Florida  32809.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 27, at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Harvest Ministry, 1537 Mill Slough Rd., Kissimmee, FL 34744.

SpencerBetsySPENCER - Betsy Lee Spencer, 54 of Kissimmee passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011. She was born in Atlanta, GA and has been a life long resident of Osceola County. Betsy was an office manager for the Celebration Foundation, Celebration, FL, a member of the First Baptist Church, St. Cloud, FL, PEO Chapter “Go”, Relay for Life, Children’s Cabinet of Osceola, Celebration Foundation, Gift for Teaching, and the Children’s Home Society.
Betsy is survived by her mother Aleta Smith of St. Cloud, FL; daughters: Haley Miller of Lake Mary, FL, Reagan Spencer of Tallahassee, FL; brothers: Brian Smith of Atlanta, GA, Michael Smith of  St. Cloud, FL, Patrick Smith of  St. Cloud, FL and three grandchildren: Jordan, Payton and Judd. Betsy was preceded in death by her brother Gregory and her father Fermor Edwin Smith.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Betsy Lee Spencer will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at The First Baptist Church of St. Cloud, 1717  13th Street, St. Cloud, FL 34769 with Reverend Paul E. Wrenn Jr. and Reverend Steve Rymer officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee.
