Pride in playoffs

The National Pro Fastpitch softball championship series concludes this weekend at Sulfer, La.

The USSSA Pride (30-9), based in Kissimmee, easily won the four-team league regular season championship over second-place Akron (22-17). Chicago (20-20) and the league-owned NPF Diamonds (6-32) rounded out field.

The Pride met the Diamonds in the first-round. The winner plays the Akron-Chicago winner for the championship. The championship game at 2 p.m. Sunday will be televised by ESPN2. A second game, if necessary, starts at 5 p.m.

OYSL registration

Osceola Youth Softball League will hold registration for its fall league, which begins Sept. 6 for girls 4-14, today and Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Oren Brown softball complex off Hoagland Boulevard. Registration is $65. Each child needs a copy of her birth certificate.

Come ‘N Try Day is today. Assessment Day is Aug. 27.

Volleytotz clinic

Heritage Christian School, 1500 E. U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee, will hold a Volleytotz Clinic to introduce children ages 3-7 to athletics.

The clinic is Aug. 27 from  9 to 11 a.m. The fee is $20.

All Star Boxing

The city of Kissimmee Civic Center will host All Star Boxing Friday. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the first bout will begin at 8:30 p.m.

General admission is $15; reserved seating is $30.

All tickets will be assessed tax and a $2.50 facility use fee. Children under 5 are free.

Re-entry is not allowed.

Tickets may be purchased at the box office or reserved by phone with a credit card by calling 407-935-1412. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, box office hours are 2 to 11:30 p.m.

Complimentary parking will be available in the Civic Center parking lot.

Kiss. LL coaches

Kissimmee Little League will hold coaches interviews for the fall baseball season Aug. 27 at the Oak Street complex building, second floor, from 9 a.m. to noon. Those interested in coaching for the fall season should attend this interview. Please visit www.kissimmeelittleleague.org for information.

SC Little League

St. Cloud Little League will hold registration for the fall season each Saturday in August from 9 a.m. to noon at the concession stand at the Little League complex, located behind the St. Cloud Civic Center on 17th Street.

The last day to register for the fall season is Aug. 27.

Fees are $80 for the first child, $55 for a second child and $30 for a third child.

The late registration fee, after Aug. 27, is an additional $15. Register online at www.eteamz.com/saintcloudll.

Kiss. rec softball

The city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration for all teams playing in the 2011 fall softball season.

Ten different leagues of various skill levels for men and women play weeknights and Saturdays.

Fees are $275 per team for most leagues. The USSSA competitive men’s league and the Saturday recreational men’s league have $400 fees for a 10-game season, two umpires and two sets of awards. Registration at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex is weekdays from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, call 407-518-2504.

OHS homecoming

Osceola High School has scheduled a variety of activities for homecoming, Sept. 23, when it will play Celebration High at 7:30 p.m.

The homecoming parade is Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. starting in downtown Kissimmee and continuing to the high school on Thacker Avenue, where a barbecue dinner will be offered for $5.

A tailgate party and a corn hole tournament ($20 adult teams/$10 students) will begin at 6 p.m., prior to the junior varsity football game against Poinciana at 6:30 p.m.

On Sept. 24, the Kickin’ Kowboy 5K run/walk begins at 7:30 a.m. at the football stadium, off Patrick Street. Cost is $10 in advance; $5 for the kids’ run at 7:15 a.m. Registration must be completed by 7 a.m.

The Homecoming Golf Classic at Kissimmee Golf Club begins Sept. 24 at noon. The fee is $50 per person. Hole sponsorships are available.

Senior Games

The Kissimmee/St. Cloud Senior Games will return Sept. 10-17 at several sites in Osceola County.

Adults age 50 and over are eligible to participate in the games, which feature competition in events ranging from track and field, swimming and basketball to bridge, cribbage and poker.

Participants at the Kissimmee/St. Cloud games can advance to state and national competitions.
