Correction

In a story about Osceola High hurdler Jonathan Almonte appearing in the Aug. 11 edition of the News-Gazette, Almonte’s uncle, Marcos Muniz, cousin, Ralph Martinez, and friend, Ashton Bell, were misidentified.

Kiss. Little League

Kissimmee Little League will hold registration today and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Oak Street fields across from the post office.

Children ages 4-18 by April 30, 2012, are eligible.

Kiss. rec softball

The city of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration for all teams playing in the 2011 fall softball season.

Ten different leagues of various skill levels for men and women play weeknights and Saturdays.

Fees have been reduced to $275 per team for most leagues. The USSSA competitive men’s league and the Saturday recreational men’s league have $400 fees for a 10-game season, two umpires and two sets of awards.

Registration at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex is weekdays from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, call 407-518-2504.

Thunder tryouts

The Osceola Thunder 12-U and 13-U youth baseball teams will hold tryouts Sunday at the Osceola High field for the 2012 season.

Tryouts for the 12-U team are from noon to 2 p.m.; tryouts for the 13-U team are from 2 to 4 p.m.

OYSL registration

Osceola Youth Softball League will hold registration for its fall league, which begins Sept. 6 for girls 4-14, today, Aug. 20 and 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Oren Brown softball complex off Hoagland Boulevard. Registration is $65. Each child needs a copy of her birth certificate.

Come ‘N Try Day is Aug. 20, and Assessment Day is Aug. 27.

Senior Games

The Kissimmee/St. Cloud Senior Games will return Sept. 10-17 at several sites in Osceola County.

Adults age 50 and over are eligible to participate in the games, which feature competition in events ranging from track and field, swimming and basketball to bridge, cribbage and poker.

The Kissimmee Convention & Visitors Bureau is sponsoring the event in conjunction with the Kissimmee, St. Cloud and Osceola County parks and recreation departments, the Osceola County Council on Aging, Good Samaritan Society Kissimmee Village, Solivita and the Osceola News-Gazette.

Participants at the Kissimmee/St. Cloud games can advance to state competition in Polk County in December and to national competitions.

Water polo, diving

Youth ages 8-18 may join Toho Water Polo or Dive Osceola offered at the Makinson Aquatic Center in association with the Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department.

No experience is necessary, but students must demonstrate swimming ability.

SC Aquatic Team

The St. Cloud Aquatic Team, a U.S.  Swimming affiliate, welcomes swimmers ages 5-and-over who have experience swimming the length of the pool with a crawl stroke.

SC Little League

St. Cloud Little League will hold registration for the fall season each Saturday in August from 9 a.m. to noon at the concession stand at the Little League complex, located behind the St. Cloud Civic Center on 17th Street.

The last day to register for the fall season is Aug. 27.

Fees are $80 for the first child, $55 for a second child and $30 for a third child.

The late registration fee, after Aug. 27, is an additional $15. Register online at www.eteamz.com/saintcloudll.
