Osceola, Gateway get wins by forfeit

The Osceola and Gateway football teams just picked up victories – from 2010.
The two schools played and lost to Dr. Phillips last season. Earlier this week, Dr. Phillips forfeited all 14 of its wins from 2010 for using an ineligible player.
Dr. Phillips played for the Class 6A state championship, losing to Miami Central, 42-27, in December after an undefeated regular season.
Dr. Phillips beat Osceola in a non-district contest during the second week of the season.
Gateway lost to Dr. Phillips in a 6A District 6 contest during the ninth week of the season.
The forfeit gives Gateway, now 4-6, its first district victory since 2005.
Osceola’s record from 2010 is officially 6-5. That gives the Kowboys their fifth consecutive winning season.
Osceola qualified for the regional playoffs as a district runner up and lost in the first round at Oviedo, 10-0.
It is the second forfeit win for both Gateway and Osceola.
Gateway gained a victory from Liberty after the season when Liberty administrators discovered that ineligible players dressed for five games. The Chargers forfeited wins against Gateway, Tenoroc and Lake Howell, dropping their record from 5-5 to 2-8.
Osceola gained a forfeit win from St. Cloud after the Bulldogs used an ineligible player during the first three weeks of the season. St. Cloud also forfeited a win against Stuart Martin County and officially is 5-6 for the 2010 season.
Osceola and Gateway, along with the rest of the county programs minus Poinciana, will be in the new district 7A-6 for the next two seasons.
