Due to recent rainfall amounts resulting in a reduction of the immediate threat of wildfires, Osceola County Fire Rescue Chief Rich Collins has lifted the fireworks ban in unincorporated Osceola County, effective immediately.

However, the burn ban is still in effect at this time but may be lifted in the near future as conditions continue to improve.

“It is the responsibility of residents to be aware of the ground conditions when using fireworks,” Collins said. “In addition, residents should exercise extreme caution when handling fireworks to prevent serious injury. Small children near the use of fireworks should always be supervised by parents or other responsible adults.”

For more information, contact Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Daniel McAvoy or Niki Whisler, department spokeswoman.
