Harmony and Osceola high schools placed among the top 20 of their respective classifications in the Florida High School Athletic Association All-Sports standings for 2010-11.

Harmony, with 270 total points, was 16th in the Class 4A state standings, and Osceola, with 267 points, was 19th in Class 5A.

Schools accumulated points according to how many of their teams advanced to the FHSAA state playoff series, and how well they performed once they got there.

Harmony’s girls scored 255 of the school’s 270 points on the strength of strong showings by the school’s softball and soccer teams, which both reached the state tournaments. The volleyball team played in the regional finals.

Osceola got excellent performances from the wrestling and girls track teams, each placing among top five at the state meets.

Naples Barron Collier was the Class 4A state champion with 644 points. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas was the Class 5A champion with 1,152 points. There are approximately 90 schools in each classification.

Celebration was 25th in Class 4A, its best showing, after the boys soccer team reached the state tournament and the competitive cheerleading team placed second at the state meet in Kissimmee.

Liberty High scored 80 points in Class 5A and was mid-pack in the state standings.

Gateway scored 25 points in Class 6A, which was led by Dr. Phillips with 1,283 points, the most from any school.

Poinciana (28) and St. Cloud (22.5) finished in the lower quarter of the Class 4A standings.

New Dimensions scored four points in Class 2A.
