Former St. Cloud High Coach Mike Clark accepted the Harmony High softball job Tuesday.

Principal Buddy Butler called Clark the best candidate for the job.

"We're very happy that he accepted," Butler said.

Clark, who coached St. Cloud from 1995-2001 and took the Lady Bulldogs to the Class 5A state tournament in 1998, said he is looking forward to leading a talented Longhorns team.

Harmony reached the Class 4A state tournament this year under former Coach Ralph King, who resigned two weeks ago after five seasons. Six starters return.

"I was at the state tournament, and I was impressed with the way they played," Clark, 55, said.

Clark was an assistant for Mike Fields' Longhorns baseball program last season.

Clark said he is in the process of assembling his assistant coaches.
