Three killed in crash on Osceola Parkway

A young family was killed Monday night in a head-on car crash on Osceola Parkway in Buenaventura Lakes.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Adolfo Carmenate, 17, of Orlando, was driving a white 2000 Honda Civic east on Osceola Parkway around 10:30 p.m. Monday when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the car as he attempted to switch into the left lane. Also in the car was Yaritza DeJesus Campos, 17, and Yadiel Carmenate, 1, both of Kissimmee. The driver and Campos were Yadiel's parents, Sgt. Kim Montes, patrol spokeswoman, said this afternoon.
The Honda veered into the grass median near Coralwood Circle and hit a green 2003 Toyota Tacoma head-on with Mayra Santiago, 49, and Esteban Rivera-Fuentes, 24, both of Kissimmee, inside.
Due to the impact with the Honda, the Tacoma rotated 90 degrees clockwise before stopping.
Santiago, the driver of the Tacoma, and Rivera-Fuentes were both transferred to Osceola Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, Montes said.
Carmenate, Campos and the child were killed, reports said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation pending an alcohol test of Adolfo Carmenate, the report states, the results of which could take several weeks, Montes said.
All four adults were wearing seat belts and the child was in a car seat, according to the report.
The speed limit is 40 mph on that stretch of Osceola Parkway, Montes said.
