Norma Thomas Page would have had five grandchildren. She was considered shy, mild-mannered and not one to speak first unless she was working the crowd at St. Cloud’s Church of the Nazarene as the reverend’s wife.

It’s this image Page’s family wants the public to remember as her alleged killer, Steven H. Bronson Jr., awaits word on whether he is deemed competent enough to stand trial in Page’s June 1979 murder.

Page’s family, headed by sister, Kay Myers, and cousin, Cheryl Hickman, are hosting a public “celebration of life” ceremony at Page’s grave at Osceola Memory Gardens at 10 a.m. June 11.

“This is just where Norma’s heart was,” Myers said, of St. Cloud.

The “quiet, loving momma,” as described by Myers, was slender with chestnut hair was the baby of the family, with three older sisters – Kay, Bea and Patricia – and an older brother, Flavious.

Norma Elaine Thomas married her Evans High School sweetheart, Jim Page, in 1970; they grew up in the Pine Hills area of Orlando.

The pair moved to St. Cloud from Tennessee after college for Jim Page’s chance to run his first church.

“She was a great mother and wife,” Jim Page has said.

The June 21, 1979, killing of the housewife kicked off “one of the most extensive and time-consuming investigations ever known to St. Cloud,” former St. Cloud Sgt. Glenn L. Walton wrote in a  newspaper column a week after the murder.
