FrenchAward01_050611At a ceremony in Celebration on May 6, World War II veteran Lionel Roy, who was a Corporal in the 3rd Division, 9th Field Artillery Battalion during the D-Day assault in southern France, was recognized by the French Consulate for his valor on that day and during later fighting.

FrenchAward04_050611Roy, a Celebration resident, received the Chevalier of the French Republic's Legion of Honor, the highest decoration given by the French government.

It is always nice to see those remembered who did so much for us. Thanks to all who served so we can be writing cooments on computers like this.
