With trusted scouts in place, Harmony High football player Brad Foulke had all the inside information he needed to make a decision about where to play college football.
His decision: Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

There, the versatile Foulke will join former Harmony teammates Jared Beekman and Shawn Buxton, who are freshmen.
Beekman plays for the Blue Jays football team as a cornerback and Buxton runs in the track program.
“Having them up there definitely influenced my decision,” he said. “The thing I like about it is that it’s a great campus. It isn’t a real big school and it has a great atmosphere.”
Foulke signed his grant at Harmony High recently with his parents, Melissa and Bryce Foulke, and former Horns Coach Dayne Brown.
Foulke played several positions for the offense and defense during his varsity football career under Brown.
“I think they’re looking at me mainly to play tight end,” Foulke said. “I’ve done a little of everything. I played some at linebacker and I’ve played on the offensive line and at defensive end.”
Johns Hopkins, a NCAA Division III program, one of the nation’s elite private schools, doesn’t award athletic scholarships but does provide academic scholarships to those who qualify.
Foulke plans to study engineering and international studies.
“I thought the international studies would apply because the campus is so close to Washington, D.C.” Foulke said. “I thought there would be opportunities for internships.”
Foulke also is one of the county’s top discus throwers and qualified for the regional track meet.
He did that after surgery on his shoulder following the football season.
“The injury happened in the last game,” he said. “It’s pretty good, now, but it did take a while. I’m surprised I did as well as I did (in the discus),” he said.
He said he will continue to strengthen his shoulder through the summer before enrolling for the fall term.
“They haven’t given me a training program, yet. They just told me to keep lifting,” he said.
The Blue Jays compete in the Centennial Conference under Coach Jim Margraff.
