The Harmony Longhorns earned a place in the Class 4A softball championship game Tuesday after defeating Braden River, 2-1, on Monday afternoon at the National Training Center in Clermont.

Harmony (22-7) will go for the school's first championship in a team sport when it plays Eau Gallie at 4 p.m. The Commodores defeated Bartram Trail, 4-2, in Monday's other semifinal.

The Longhorns scratched out a run in the fifth inning after catcher Peyton Dering doubled. Her courtesy runner, Taylor Kuwik, later scored when Bri Kimura struck out but reached base on a wild pitch. Harmony made it 2-0 in the seventh on Beth Newcott's RBI groundout.

Pitchers Molly Baker and Lauren Harris combined to no-hit Braden River through six innings, but the Longhorns endured a weary seventh inning by allowing a run and watching BRHS load the bases. Savannah Austin caught a two-out, foul fly to send the Longhorns into the championship game.
