The district softball tournaments got under way this week with predictable results.

Harmony, the No. 1 seed at the 4A District 6 tournament at Eustis, blanked rival St. Cloud, 10-0, in five innings Tuesday to advance to today’s championship game.

The Lady Longhorns, 17-7, will meet Tavares at 7 p.m. for the championship. Both teams will advance to next week’s regional playoffs. Tavares eliminated Poinciana, 15-0, Monday.

On Monday, St. Cloud, seeded No. 4, beat No. 5 Celebration, 7-2, as Briana Benge had three hits and three RBIs and pitcher Sam Gale threw a complete game.

Osceola defeated Liberty, 12-0, at the 5A-5 tournament at Lake Wales Tuesday. Alexa Ballard’s three-run triple in the first inning helped Osceola take a 4-0 lead.

The No. 2-seeded Lady Kowboys, 21-5, met No. 3 Haines City Wednesday in the semifinal round. The championship game today begins at 7 p.m. at Lake Wales High. Lake Wales is the No. 1 seed.

Osceola, after a 4-3 loss against Miami Westminster Christian, won two games at the Naples tournament last weekend over Lutz George Steinbrenner, 5-3, and against Naples Gulf Coast, 7-2.

Gateway lost in the first round of the 6A-6 tournament to Palm Bay Bayside, 7-4, Monday.
