During the 126th Silver Spurs Rodeo’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink night in February, $3,000 was raised to benefit the Florida Hospital Cancer Center in efforts to fight the disease.
Rodeo fans, contestants and event volunteers were encouraged to wear pink to show their support during Friday night’s performance of the rodeo. The Silver Spurs gave support to cancer research through a program designated by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association, or PRCA, called Tough Enough to Wear Pink.
“This was our fourth year participating within the PRCA’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink, we were so excited and grateful to raise money for such a worthy cause,” Henry Kempfer, Big Boss for the Silver Spurs, said. “This event is getting bigger and bigger; we were proud to have made national news with Tough Enough to Wear Pink’s efforts this year.”
The Silver Spurs Riding Club, a nonprofit organization, is a volunteer-based Osceola County tradition since 1942. Club members dedicate endless hours to club events such as the biannual Silver Spurs Rodeo of Champions.
