United Arts, which serves the Central Florida region, will soon be accepting applications for the fiscal year 2012 Organizational Project Grants program.
Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to local nonprofit cultural organizations for projects in arts, culture, history or science. Last year’s grant program gave a total of $227,640 to 35 arts and cultural organizations, with awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.
Each applicant must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, located in Lake, Orange, Osceola or Seminole counties, and have a mission focused on arts, culture, history or science.
Projects will take place during the grant period of Oct. 1, 2011, to Sept. 30, 2012. Funds will sustain ongoing projects, as well as recognize and support imaginative and/or experimental ideas. A season of performances or exhibitions is considered an eligible project.
Workshops will be this month and in May and June, in conjunction with partner grant programs from Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs-Cultural Tourism Funding, and city of Orlando-Mayor’s Matching Grants. RSVPs are required.
Program guidelines and applications will be posted by Thursday at www.UnitedArts.cc (click on Programs, then Grants, then Organizational Project Grants). The application deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday, July 14.
