Lane closures on upcoming road
resurfacing projects
Crews will be working on two separate Osceola County road resurfacing projects next week and motorists are urged to use caution when approaching these areas, as there will be temporary lane closures, but no road closures.
According to a county press release, traffic delays can be expected, and work schedules could vary according to weather and equipment-related issues.
The locations include:
• Michigan Avenue and Carroll Street intersection, milling and resurfacing, Sunday through Wednesday, April 13, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
• Country Club Road leveling and resurfacing, Wednesday through Friday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, from South Doverplum Avenue to the Osceola County line. Message boards will be in place Monday to advise drivers of the upcoming project.

It’s National County Government Month
At 10:30 a.m. Monday, the Osceola County Commissioners will hold a ceremony and press conference at Courthouse Square honoring county employees who also are in the military and who have recently served.
The commission this past Monday announced April as National County Government Month, an annual celebration that offers an opportunity to educate residents about county programs, services and responsibilities. Commissioners also passed a proclamation honoring county employees who have served in the military.
Since 1991, the National Association of Counties has encouraged counties to actively promote their services and programs, county officials stated in a press release, adding that the month is “an excellent opportunity for the county to highlight effective county programs, deliver important messages to citizens and raise public awareness and understanding about the various services provided to the community, such as medical services, housing, employment and justice to our veterans, military service members and their families.”
According to the county press release, there are dozens of county employees out of a total of about 1,500 who have served the nation and who now also provide “a myriad of valued and essential daily services” to residents. It is important and timely as more veterans, military service members and their families turn to their county government for services and assistance.”
During the next four weeks, the county will promote government services and programs. The Board of County Commissioners is recognizing all county military employees who recently served our County with a proclamation.
