The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, or Lynx, will offer its new identification card to eligible passengers in Osceola County Friday and Saturday, April 8-9.

Lynx Customer Service will process identification cards in an open area near Riley’s Gourmet Coffee at the Osceola Square Mall, 3831 W. Vine St., Kissimmee, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Starting April 24, any passenger using a discounted fare will be required to show bus operators the new card when boarding the bus. If the passenger does not present the new identification, he or she must pay the full fare. More than 7,100 cards have been issued since the Lynx board of directors adopted the policy change Jan. 27.

Discount fares are available in two categories: youth and AdvantAge. The youth fare applies to riders between the ages of 7 and 18. The youth fare is extended to those 19 or older who can prove they are still in high school. The Advant-Age fare applies to riders 65 and older or any person with a certified medical disability.

To obtain either card, eligible riders must present either a birth certificate, Medicare card or government-issued identification and fill out an application form.

People with medical disabilities, regardless of their age, must go through a certification process to receive the AdvantAge card.

Eligible riders can still obtain Lynx identification cards at the Central Station Terminal Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Any AdvantAge ID cards issued prior to Feb. 7 will not be valid.
