April is National Fair Housing month and Osceola County Human Services will be hosting two Fair Housing Events.

From 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Human Services will host a Fair Housing Sidewalk Fair outside Human Services at 330 N. Beaumont Ave., Kissimmee. The fair will provide an opportunity for affordable housing providers, residents and other members of the public to learn about community resources.

On Thursday, April 21, the department will host a fair housing seminar from 9 a.m. to noon, also at the Beaumont office. The workshop will provide an overview and history of fair housing, offer examples of fair housing cases and how to file a complaint. The workshop also will feature information on major code violations and how to avoid them; and after a storm, how to select qualified contractors to repair your home.

The primary goal of the events is to educate the public on fair housing issues, how to recognize when the law is being violated and what to do. The events will also bring community resources to residents, Realtors, lenders, landlords and other key stakeholders.
