District tournaments for spring sports begin next week when Osceola County tennis teams compete at tournaments at four sites.

The top two teams from each district advance to regional play April 12. The state tournaments are at Lake Brantley High, Sanlando Park, Sylvan Lake Park and Red Bug Lake Park in Seminole County April 20-21.
The No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles district champions also advance to the state tournaments.
Osceola and Gateway travel to Vero Beach’s Riverside Park Monday and Tuesday for the 4A-8 tournament, where they will compete against the host Indians, Palm Bay, Treasure Coast, Centennial and Bayside. Osceola’s No. 1 singles player, Paul Gursky, is a potential state qualifier.
St. Cloud, Harmony, Celebration and Liberty travel to Fee Avenue Park in Melbourne for the 3A-13 tournament Wednesday and Thursday. They compete against Eau Gallie, Melbourne and Viera.
Celebration’s Tyler Young and St. Cloud’s Trevor Foshee are among the top No. 1 singles players at the tournament.
Amanda Pence, a former Osceola County Player of the Year for St. Cloud, is one the district’s best female players.
Poinciana’s boys go to Bartow and the girls travel to Winter Haven Monday and Wednesday for the 2A-8 tournament against Avon Park, Hardee County, Auburndale, Lake Placid, Sebring, Mulberry and Tenoroc.
Celebration won the Orange Belt Conference girls championship with a 6-0 conference record. The Storm boys, 5-0, lead the conference race.
Their match against St. Cloud Thursday was canceled because of rain.
Because next week is a district tournament week, St. Cloud Coach Dallas Kelsey said the Bulldogs will petition the Florida High School Athletic Association for permission to play Celebration Monday.
Should the FHSAA deny St. Cloud’s petition, Celebration would win the OBC boys championship.
St. Cloud, 3-1 in the conference, also must complete a match against the Osceola boys that was halted by rain Wednesday.
