Kissimmee Classic

The 19th annual Kissimmee Klassic softball tournament begins Thursday at the Osceola County Softball Complex with 38 teams in two 16-team (Blue and Gold) and a six-team (White) bracket. Of the 38 teams, 27 have been state-ranked at some point this year, and three are currently nationally ranked.

Three of the state’s 2010 Pitchers of the Year (Haylie Wilson, Bolles; Kaley Bitterman, Pine Castle Christian; Emily Winesett, Canterbury) dot the 2011 field along with 2010 6A Player of the Year Kaylie Wallace, Palm Beach Gardens, and 2A Player of the Year Emily Carosone, Pine Castle Christian.

The host Kowgirls play Naples Gulf Coast Thursday at 6 p.m. Daily admission is $9 with a tournament pass available for $25.

Terry Stewart Golf

Registration is now open for Kissimmee Parks and Recreation’s annual Terry Stewart Memorial Golf Classic at Kissimmee Golf Club April 16 at 8 a.m.

Proceeds from this four-person best-ball tournament will allow deserving youngsters to participate in city recreation and athletic programs. The fee of $65 per person ($260 per team) includes golf fees plus a commemorative golf towel and cup. The event is followed by a sit-down luncheon and raffle.

CHS golf tourney

The Celebration High School football program will host the inaugural Storm Golf Tournament April 30 at Celebration Golf Club at 8 a.m. Proceeds will be used to purchase needed equipment.

The four-man, shotgun-start event is $150 per player and includes a pairings party with dinner April 29, all fees, lunch, a pro shop coupon and a free wedge. Hole and event sponsors, as well as sponsorships for the 2011 football season, also are available. KSA swimming

The Kissimmee Swimming Association is accepting new swimmers.

Swimmers must be at least age 5 who can swim freestyle and backstroke. KSA also is accepting swimmers age 18 or older for its masters program.
