St. Cloud police today arrested two city residents, Angelo J. Palmieri, 20, and his mother, Cindy M. Willison, 47, both of 343 Columbia Ave., in connection with the armed robbery at the Cumberland Farms Store, 2501 13th St., St. Cloud, this morning.
At about 4 a.m., St. Cloud police responded to the Cumberland Farms store for an armed robbery. The store clerk reported that a suspect wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses entered the store and demanded all the money from the cash register while implying he was holding a weapon.
According to St. Cloud Department spokeswoman Sgt. Denise Roberts, the clerk removed the money from the register and handed it to the suspect, who then left the store and entered what was later to be determined to be Willison's vehicle and fled from the area.
The clerk contacted law enforcement and the vehicle was stopped and both suspects were apprehended with the assistance of Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. St. Cloud police also reported that while in custody and handcuffed, Palmieri attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended.
Both subjects were transported to the St. Cloud Police Department for questioning during which Palmieri confessed to the robbery, Roberts stated. Both subjects were being held at the Osceola County Jail.
