Calderon-Perez-Carlos

Calderon-Perez

A 32-year-old homeless man arrested by Kissimmee police over the weekend for burglary has been linked to several more break-ins throughout Kissimmee.

On Sunday at about 2:30 a.m., officers noticed a man riding his bicycle in the area of Dyer Boulevard and Columbia Avenue who was wearing a backpack that seemed to contain a small television. The man, later identified as Carlos Calderon-Perez, did not have a headlight or taillight on his bicycle, prompting the officers to conduct a traffic stop. Officers obtained consent from Calderon-Perez to search his backpack  in which they found an electronic advertisement monitor, which looks similar to a television.

Through investigations, the officers were able to contact the owner of the monitor and determined that it was from Joseph Hair Razor at 521 W. Vine St., in Kissimmee. Officers responded to the business and confirmed that it had been burglarized. Calderon-Perez is believed to have broken a window to gain access to the business and stole the monitor.

Calderon-Perez was charged with criminal mischief, burglary to a structure and grand theft. He was taken to the Osceola County Jail, where he was being held on $5,000 bond.

On Monday, detectives from the KPD spoke with Calderon-Perez about his involvement in the burglary and were able to link him to four additional burglaries. Charges for those break-ins are pending.
