Sasha Mendez held Harmony to three hits to lead Osceola over the Longhorns,  3-1, Friday at Coffey Field.

The win gave Osceola the Orange Belt Conference championship. Osceola and Harmony have alternated as the conference champs for the past four years.

Kenya Pereira pitched two innings for OHS to earn a save.

Carmen Nadal’s RBI double in the first inning drove in freshman shortstop Aisya Dennis, who led off with a double. Nadal scored on Pereira’s single for a 2-0 lead.

Harmony pulled to within one, 2-1, in the fourth inning when Lauren Harris singled and scored on Breann Vanderzyl’s squeeze bunt.

Osceola added an insurance run in the fifth when Alexa Ballard singled, advanced on Nadal’s single, and scored on Jessica Callahan’s sacrifice fly to left. Ballard just beat Harris’s accurate throw.

Osceola, 12-2, has lost only to 5A-5 district rival Lake Wales this season.

Harmony, 13-4 and No. 8 in Class 4A, clinched the top seed at the 4A-6 district tournament next month with a 3-1 win at Tavares Thursday.

Harris homered, drove in two runs and pitched a one-hitter to lead Harmony.
