It seems as if we just finished with winter break. Spring break is just around the corner. Literally. Polk County students have their spring break March 11-18. Osceola County students enjoy their spring break March 21-25. What’s a working parent to do?
The Poinciana Y offers a holiday camp for both Polk and Osceola school districts Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the rate of $16 per child, per day. The camper will experience a sports-related activity each day, in addition to daily arts and crafts and outdoor play.
The Poinciana Y also has special Kid’s Night Out for youths ages 5 to 13. The next one will be Friday, March 20, from 7 to 10 p.m. Play games, make crafts and make new friends. Cost is $6 for members, $12 for non-members.
Check out the Saturday getaways available the first Saturday of each month. Children from age 4 through eighth grade can be dropped off at the Poinciana Y from 1 to 5 p.m. Cost is $6 for members, $12 for non-members.
T-Ball will soon start at the Poinciana Y. The season runs March 28 to May 16. Cost is $25 for members, $54 for non-members.
For details, call the Poinciana Y at 863-496-1814.

The Poinciana Expo, presented by the Poinciana Area Council, will be Saturday, April 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This showcase of businesses and services takes place in the Poinciana Community Center Complex, 395 Marigold Ave. The Poinciana Expo is a tremendous opportunity to meet many potential customers in a short time. Booth space is available for each area. Food vendors will be given an outdoor space. Commercially made goods also may be sold at a booth at the expo.
Space inside the Poinciana center is $100 for profit; $75 for Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce members; and $50 for nonprofit.
Space inside the Y is $90 for profit; $65 for chamber members; and nonprofit is $40. Outside pricing is the same. Vendors must provide their own tables for the Y and outdoors. Food vendors should call for pricing.
Poinciana Expo vendors may anticipate a large turnout as this year’s event will be at the same time as the Y’s annual Healthy Kids Day. Reserve your space early. For reservations, call me at 407-846-7122 or Vianca McCluskey at 407-343-2031. For more information, call Elaine Baggett, chamber coordinator, at 407-847-4339.
