The Osceola County softball heavyweights are delivering as promised.

Harmony carried an eight-game winning streak to Jupiter for a tournament that began Friday and concludes today.

The Lady Horns, 8-2 before Friday’s tournament games against Clearwater Countryside and Palm Beach Central, are unbeaten (5-0) in 4A District 6 after a 5-1 win at defending district champion Eustis.

Harmony can clinch the No. 1 seed at the district tournament, at Eustis, with wins over Poinciana Tuesday and at Tavares Thursday.

Lauren Harris threw a three-hitter and had two hits and scored twice for Harmony, which has made four straight trips to the regional playoffs.

Beth Newcott, Jodi Nestle, Breann Vanderzyle, Brittany Bruns and Payton Dering all had hits for Harmony.

The JV team remained unbeaten after beating Eustis a Rachel Davis threw a complete game.

Meanwhile, Harmony’s local rival for county supremacy, Osceola High, rebounded from a 2-1 loss to 5A District 5 rival Lake Wales last week by pounding Sebring, 11-2, March 4 and Ridge Community, 17-0, Tuesday to lift its record to 7-2 and 5-2 in the district.

Kenya Pereira earned the win over Sebring, when the Kowgirls scored seven runs in the first inning, highlighted by Chantell Crockett’s three-run triple.

Osceola pitcher Sasha Mendez picked up the win and hit a three-run homer against Ridge.

The Kowgirls played Haines City Friday in a district contest.

Harmony visits OHS next Friday at 7 p.m. for a game that will decide the Orange Belt Conference championship.

St. Cloud improved to 7-5 and 3-3 in 4A-6 Wednesday with a 10-0 five-inning win over district rival Poinciana.

Brianna Benge and Madison Roberts each had three hits for St. Cloud. Benge scored four runs. Samantha Gale had two hits an pitched a one-hitter.
